This
page uses three selections from the April's Daisies textures. Many
other color choices are offered in the complete series.
First,
the page background color and the font color are
selected. It is important that the page be legible at this point. On
this page, the background color is white and the font color is black.
Next,
the page background graphic is added. On this example, it's a dark
brown paper.
A
one-cell table is inserted on the page. Its width is 80%
of the screen. It has no border. Its cell padding is set to 40
pixels to create a margin around its contents. Its cell spacing is 1.
Its cell background image is set to the yellow flower pattern that
makes up the border around the paper. Its background image is set to
the same graphic.
Inside
that is a second, one-cell table that contains the off-white paper
texture and the page contents. Its width is 100%
of the space allowed it by the outer table. It has a 3
pixel wide, black border. Its cell padding is set to 32
pixels to create a margin around its contents. Its cell spacing is 2.
The table's cell background image is set to the pale yellow paper, as is
its background image.
This
style can create an elegant look but be careful to choose textures that
are small in memory needs. Three patterns will need to load before your
page is complete; you don't want visitors to become impatient while
waiting.
