I’ve built sites using several different WordPress themes and lots of different plug ins. For this revision of Eos, I’ve decided to base the site on the WordPress free-for-public use theme: Twenty-Sixteen. I’ve already done quite a bit of customization and will be at it throughout the week. For instance, why is the feature image at the top of a page? No. The feature image must appear or not when I want it to, and only where I say it should go.

One thing that’s nice about coding: it can sometimes be challenging to make software obey your will but once you do, it stays orderly. I remind myself of that twelve times a day when a feral bit of code feels the urge to misbehave.

“Deep in the forest a call was sounding, and as often as he heard this call, mysteriously thrilling and luring, he felt compelled to turn his back upon the fire and the beaten earth around it, and to plunge into the forest, and on and on, he knew not where or why; nor did he wonder where or why, the call sounding imperiously, deep in the forest.” ― The Call of the Wild
